Bisphenol A Meeting Should Be Canceled, Lawmaker Says

Bloomberg.com:: "The U.S. Food and Drug Administration should cancel a meeting on the safety of bisphenol A, a chemical used in plastic, because of conflicts of interest involving an agency adviser, a lawmaker said.

The leader of an FDA subcommittee reviewing the agency's assessment of the chemical heads a University of Michigan center that received funding from a company that makes bisphenol A, said Representative Rosa DeLauro, in a letter to be released tomorrow. The Oct. 31 meeting and a related report should be canceled, said DeLauro, a Connecticut Democrat."
