The Dish - The Lakeland Ledger: "As someone highly dependent on my crock pot, I was distressed to learn about the presence of the industrial chemical BPA in the linings of most food cans. My standard practice used to involve dumping several varieties of canned beans, along with diced tomatoes and kernel corn, into the crock pot to make vegetarian chili. I’ve decided to make the switch to bagged ingredients as much as possible — bagged beans and frozen corn. As for tomatoes, I suppose I can buy fresh ones at a produce stand and crush them. It amounts to more work, but until scientists clear up the safety concerns about BPA it seems worth the effort.
Here’s a link to a brief look at BPA from Sunday’s paper.
