Statesman Journal: "Senate Bill 1032 would ban the chemical in food containers primarily intended for use by children younger than 3. The Environment and Natural Resources Committee will likely hold a work session and vote next week.
Food and grocery representatives criticized the bill, saying it could target all canned food in Oregon and urged the Legislature to leave food regulation to the FDA.
Others testified that the ban could put an end to food bank donations because of fear the products might end up going to children younger than 3.
Sen. Jackie Dingfelder clarified that the ban would be on children's products such as formula cans and baby food and not on all canned food."
