Bisphenol A does not damage nervous system in rats

Food production daily: "A European plastics industry body has welcomed new research which found no evidence that bisphenol A (BPA) damages the nervous system of female rats and their offspring.

The study - Developmental Neurotoxicity Study of Dietary Bisphenol A in Sprague-Dawley Rats, by Donald G. Stump et al – said the chemical did not act as a developmental neurotoxicant to the rodents as measured in guidelines laid out by the OECD and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Steve Hentges, of the American Chemistry Council, M Sue Marty of the Dow Chemical Company and Anne Chappelle of Sunoco Inc were also listed as co-contributors."

The paper, which appeared in the online journal Toxicological Sciences, detailed how the researchers exposed female rats and their offspring to oral doses of the chemical ranging from 0.15 to 2,250 ppm daily during gestation and lactation
